In post-World War II Vienna, an American writer named Holly Martins arrives to meet his childhood friend Harry Lime, only to discover that Lime has died in a mysterious accident. As Martins investigates the circumstances surrounding Lime’s death, he becomes entangled in a complex web of deception, corruption, and betrayal. Martins soon learns that Lime was involved in a lucrative yet dangerous black market operation selling diluted penicillin, putting the lives of many at risk for profit.
